Overview of Jack Bauer wiki edits

Well hello, it seems that you are currently reading my final blog post for my infotech and marketing applications course. (Crazy how time flies by...)

This is simply to give a brief synopsis of my three edits on the Jack Bauer wiki. Two of my edits were my own personal grammar and spell checks. As for my other edit, I became very disgruntled when someone wrote how Jack was a "flawed hero."

I'm very dissappointed with the other Jack Bauer loyals like myself (well apparently not so much like myself). I felt that it was perfectly viable to compare Jack to a modern day superman, I guess I was wrong.

The article itself really hasn't changed too much, and most edits and addendums come every week after the latest episode of the show. As for now, I'm all wikipedia-ed out....

It's been a pleasure maintaining this blog, we shall see how much longer I can keep up with it...

So long.

Final edit for Jack Bauer wiki

My final edit on the Jack Bauer wiki can be seen here, under the "biography and pre-24" headline. This last edit had a similar flavor to that of my first one. Due to my poor luck with getting wikipedia and the editors of its plethora of articles to accept my added material, I chose to play "English teacher" again and do some more grammar editing. A tense change here and there, as well as some re-wording to make the paragraphs more fluid.

Well, I guess that's my last required edit on wikipedia for this class...

cheers

Overview of DXArmy wiki article

Well, you won't believe this. As I was on my way to making my third wiki edit for the Dirty Xplicit Artists page I created from my friends rap group, I was utterly suprised to see that it has been removed from wikipedia without a trace. I never got a chance to do my final edit for this page, and wikipedia never gave me one of their "deletion warnings" either. Click the link on the sidebar under "wikipedia articles" titled Dirty Explicit Artists and you will see what I am talking about. I don't know what else to say and hope I don't get penelized for not being able to finish my last edit on this article...

I have a bone to pick with these wikipedia characters...

Overview of SAE Delaware Alpha wiki

This article was my first original creation on wikipedia. It was dedicated to my fraternity SAE here at UD. My first edit was a brief introduction, followed by our fraternity creed and finally making my final edit to the article by adding a complete list of brothers by pledge class. I thought this was a legittimate article, but apparently the wiki editors think otherwise (I think these guys have something against me); they want to delete my article, check this out.

I cant believe the reason is, "Some fraternity which does not make out how it is any different from any other fraternity."

That makes me feel great. I wasn't promoting or advertising for the fraternity, it was merely a directory. Also, I thought more content the better, right? Well whatever, I guess that article is about to bite the dust...

Overview of "24" wiki edits

After completing my 3 edits for the 24 wiki article, it's interesting to see how crazy some fans really are. I consider myself a pretty good source on said material, but the wiki watchers felt otherwise. The only edit that wasn't completely deleted or re-worded was the first one I had made. My second edit was actually in a section of the article that was removed in entirety. No big deal, I guess 1 out of 3 isn't bad at all for being completely unfamialiar with the wiki platform. My second edit was actually in a section of the article that was removed in entirety.

Poker

My teammate Chris wrote his final wiki edit on the poker article here. It's so funny how Texas Hold 'em was around for so long but didn't get big till ESPNs bottom line ticker read: MLB, NBA, GOLF, POKER...I myself didn't know how to play hold em until sophomore year of college, which supposedly was late. Unfortunately, learning how to play makes you want to play more, which then means you lose more money. It's really a great game and I will admit to playing it online as well; I spoke about that in this post here. It seems that wikipedia did a similar thing to Chris as they did to me and choose to delete some of his addendums. No big deal, it's not like we are Doyle Brunson or Daniel Negreanu.

PlayStation 3

I was reading the slashdot blog and came across a post about PlayStation 3. First they touch on the price tag for this monster: $500 AT LEAST!! Looks like I may be waiting a while to pick this one up. However, the post also speaks on how the people at Sony have yet to release the system specs to the game developers in order for them to make the games the best they can be with regards to the capabilities of the new system. I completely sympathize as one who plays video games. If the system rocks, make sure the games are just as cool. However, I have no doubts that PS3 will be the best video game system that has come out to date.

Except for Super Nintendo, which was the best system ever.

2nd DXA wiki edit

I added some more info that I got from my buddy in the group. I also added some kind of organization table to the right of the page. A picture will be put in there, but wikipedia was being annoying and couldn't upload any files at the time.

Check it out: DXArmy.

Search Engine Optimization

Yesterday in class we had a skype speaker discuss the elements of search engine optimization. This also correlated with our "loocsixela" project spoken of earlier. He was able to give us some insight on things that determine what keyword searches in google can directly relate a search to your site. There are also a number of kinks that can be fine tuned in order to increase your listing rank when searched. These are as follows:

- Title tag
- Page meta tags
- Page header
- Relevant page content
- Keyword density of page

The content in each of those criterion is up to the user's discretion and can be changed however one may please. It also seems that search engine optimization is becoming a fairly viable career path. I love growing up in the internet age...

cheers.

Superman: Fact or Fiction

It seems that my distaste for the editors of the Jack Bauer wiki has led me to make a 2nd edit to said article. This one was short buy sweet. The first line of the wiki states:

"Jack Bauer, a character played by actor Kiefer Sutherland, is the main character in the American television series 24."

This is a completely legittimate statement. However, what followed held little weight in the fictional world of 24. Someone had wrote that, "He is generally viewed as a flawed hero." What does that even mean? This man is responsible for saving the lives of millions in this country at least five seperate times! Some of these actions were even made on Jack's own volition. There is a reason why Jack Bauer doesn't kick back with a beer on his couch and watch T.V., and that reason is because he would simply rather be out saving the world.

The edit I made replaced the words, "flawed hero" with "modern day Superman" (pictured above). Any 24 fan that would disagree with this statement needs to take a step back and realize one thing: you're wrong buddy. Don't ever say my Jack Bauer is a flawed hero, ever! The man has 24 hour days that wouldn't even resemble your worst nightmare.

As for whomever made the correlation of Jack Bauer and the word flawed, I pity you and feel that you need to re-evaluate your life. You can view the edit right here at the very top of the article.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Jack Bauer

Some late night "wikipedia-ing" lead me to disgust when reading the Jack Bauer wiki I chose to edit for the class project.

I did some grammar and spell checking for the derelicts that put this article together. While reading through the "biography" section for Jack Bauer, I noticed a handful of spelling and grammatical errors that left most sentances making absolutely no sense. So I went in, the good samaritan I am, and did a little Microsoft word-esque "spell-check."

They do make a point at the top of the article to say that none of the information is referenced but simply derivative of the knowledge of 24 fans around the globe. I will inculde myself in any such realm of being and maybe even make myself the king of said group.

As of right now I give this Jack Bauer wikipedia article 97.6% validity. The lack of receving 2.4% more from scribes such as myself is simply due to the fact that I am very loocsixela (that's yiddish for stubborn)...

At least someone likes my material...

My friend and fellow team mate Scott has been nice enough to write a post on how damn good of a blogger I am, just kidding. Actually only half kidding, it seems that a reader actually does enjoy reading the rants of my own and coincidentally enough he gets graded on writing a post about how great of a person I am, just kidding...again.

Enough B.S. check out his post about yours truly, it's reflective of my AIM "away message bashing" post I wrote.

As for Scott, thanks for the props, it's much appreciated. I would like to end with a quote that is taken verbatim from Scott's own editorial:

"...I would like to salute Craig once again for continually making his blog interesting and actually worth reading."

Two words: thanks Scott.

Enjoy.

Dirty Explicit Artists

I have begun to manufacture my second original wikipedia article to date. This wiki is somewhat of a personal attempt to get my friends on the map persay. A couple of my buddies from home put together a rap group: DXA. This is short for "Dirty Explicit Artists", hence the title of this post. My initial wiki entries for their article are minimal as of right now due to the fact that I need to get some more information and feedback from the group themselves.

The wiki can be viewed here.

You can also check them out on their website www.dxarmy.com. If you like rap, and when I say that I don't mean the tripe that our ears are littered with thanks to the radio and MTV; I am referring to quality rap. These guys push out a plethora of great lyrics and metaphors; and my bestfriend Chuck (DJ Ice Rocks) is their producer who makes all their beats. I have watched him progress from his first set of turntables all the way to the SP-1200 that he uses now. I bet your best friend doesn't own an SP-1200...

Moving on...

These guys never fail to amaze me with their explosion of talents with regards to writing rhymes, hooks and beats to eventually formulate an fantastic rap track.

They released their first album: Don't Expect Answers, in August of 2005 and it is a very solid piece of work. I was actually sent down here at the beginning of this school year with a box of cds to sell for $5 bucks a pop. It's really worth it, and that can be proved by the fact that I have moved around 15 or so albums for them to my friends here on campus.

If you're interested in a CD, give me a shout. As for now, check out the wiki article.

Merry loocsixela...
